Introductions - Page 4 Empty Hello Boulder Airsoft Community

Post by Rog Speech July 23rd 2012, 16:06

Well I do want to say how great it is to be allowed to partake in this type of community. I am pretty new to airsoft but I try to get out and play each weekend. I hail out of Cheyenne Wy. Our small band of players, run under the banner of Black Shield. A rag tag bunch who mostly run skirmish scenarios, force on force usually, and sometimes there is objectives to complete. Our games usually take place in our backyards and in the hills of the Snowy Range and Vedauwoo, in the Medicine Bow National Forest.
I am called Speech by my teammates but the call-sign is Rog Speech (pronounced 'rogue'). I run the field with a m16-A1 and an Ak-74u for close combat and assault missions. There are times when I bring my homemade mortar to the game. it provides for some additional scenarios to be added to the game. I like to be active and outdoors, so airsoft is something that I find to be a very good way to maintain a healthy lifestyle while having some good fun in the process. I look forward to getting to know you all. hope to see you at "Operation Throwdown II"

@Alden

Some local public fields are:
Dragonman's (Colorado Springs)
DMZ (Colorado Springs)
Go Airheads (Erie)
Black Lotus (Loveland)

Each has their ups and downs. You should thoroughly read reviews before going to any of these fields so you know what you're in for: https://boulderairsoft.forumotion.com/f42-public-fields

Boulder Airsoft also uses specific locations for games, however there are many other restrictions and laws to be aware of for our fields as they are on Federally owned land. Our game coordinators are aware of property boundaries, as well as the Federal and County restrictions on land use and activities. Boulder Airsoft fields can be found by going to www.boulderairsoft.com and clicking the link for fields on the navigation bar to the left.

Boulder Airsoft always posts our public events to the forum as well as http://facebook.boulderairsoft.com - just join the group, and receive a Facebook invite to every upcoming event.

Post by HotDog (A5) October 1st 2012, 17:00

Hey all, new to the forum but not the sport. My name's Matt, and I've lived in Boulder for most my life. I've been airsofting for about seven years now, and been to a few large games in Arizona and Colorado. I spent two years in AZ for college but am back in Boulder for a while. I've got a few loadouts; Multicam, Flectarn, woodland and an accurate '90s Ranger DCU impression.

My current "armory" includes the following:

G&P M4
G&P XM-177
CA G36E
CA G3 w/ real steel wood kit
A&K M60 VN
Tanaka L96

As for military/ tactical background, I was an Air Force ROTC cadet for two years, but dropped the program in favor of completing school and trying my luck with AFOTS. I have very basic training in MOUT from MTT Tactical in Phoenix AZ in addition to the Small Unit Tactics courses from AFROTC.

I'm looking forward to attending games in Boulder because I'm kinda sick of driving all the way to the springs to play, and it'll be nice to meet new people

Post by Martin Grim November 19th 2012, 11:27

My name is Martin Grim and I live in Westminster. I just moved to the area from California in Aug. to attend school in Boulder. I am 26 and I study nutrition and Herbalism. I've been very interested in airsoft for several years, however I never devoted the time or money into seriously pursuing it as a hobby (for many reasons). Just recently I've been feeling the itch to play, so I decided to find a local forum and make some new friends.

I've researched airsoft over the years, but honestly I know very little about the game as a whole. I've never been in a match and I often get confused on the topic of gear. I welcome all tips, so if anyone has any advice on how to get started I'd appreciate it very much.

Post by Twitch November 19th 2012, 12:24

Martin,

Welcome. You've come to the right place, we have a great community here, and these guys are more than happy to answer questions and get people involved in the sport.

Getting started is always a little more difficult, mostly because you don't know what equipment to buy. Basically what's good and what's not. I will use the old saying of "you get what you pay for." Generally the cheaper stuff won't last as long as will have maintenance problems. With players on the Brigade, KWA is by far the most popular gun, and they offer a lower cost option, a CQR model, I have one and I think it's great. I know a big regret of most players is not knowing what is good ahead of time and they wasted money buying lower end equipment and guns that broke far quicker than they expected.

What I would suggest is coming up to a game, even if its just to observe and get a feel for things. Get to know people, get to see and handle some of the different equipment. Even come out into the field and watch what happens, we can pair you up with someone, you're welcome to tag along with me.

I would definitely suggest joining our Facebook group: http://Facebook. Boulderairsoft.com
This is a good resource, good for communication, and we may be able to figure out how to set you up with borrowing gear for a game or two so you can better understand what you would want to buy.

But again, welcome, I hope you see you at a game in the near future.

Thanks man, I appreciate the advice. I like the idea of checking out a game first; where can I find details about matches?

Upcoming events are posted on Facebook, as well as on the forum under the Boulder Airsoft Events section. That typically happens two to three weeks before each event.

If you want to plan further in advance, we have a calendar on our home page www.boulderairsoft.com and events are listed from now through the end of March. The rest of the summer will be planned out soon.

Hello,

My name is Isaac, and I found this site while looking for information on my new Puxing PX-888K radio and there was a great page on it.

I've been playing for about 2 years and I live in Lafayette. I don't get to play as often as I like (stupid personal life) but I try to get out every other weekend or so.
