I am thinking of doing a ground up build.

I am thinking of doing a ground up build.
I have a very good idea of what I want out of it, and what and how I need to get there, but... I have never had an AEG before and honestly , haven't got to good an idea of all the internal parts I'd need. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,

Its generally going to be more pricey to do a ground up build than buy a gun outright.
If you get a boneyard type gun (something not working thats highly discounted) we can tear it apart and figure out which parts will be needed to get it running / upgraded.
Is there a particular platform M4, AK, MP5, etc. that you're leaning toward?

I'm leaning toward building something very similar to Zastava's Tabuk Rifle AK variant. I know that I want it full metal, or very close to it, and have figured out how to get my end product the way I want it. I am just going to need help getting from here, to there though.

Ok, so I found something comparable on hitguns.com for a pretty good price:

There are a lot of parts that go into these guns. I just did an interior re-build on an AK-47 for Jon last night. I'm going to be installing a couple parts into it when they come in. If you're wanting to see the internal workings of the AK-47, I can let you know when I'll be doing the work and you can head over to my place to check it out. May be a good idea for you to know what you're getting into before you decide to build from the ground up instead of buying a gun new.

I'd really appreciate that! Actually, at the moment, Evike.com has a CYMA CM036 in their boneyard, Ideally that is the gun I would like to start from. I know this will get expensive, and I'm not looking to do this overnight. Given how I play, I think that what I have in mind would be fantastic, but like I said before, I'll need alot of help getting there.

That should work. We would just have to figure out what (if anything) is wrong with it when it comes and then go from there. It looks like that rifle has the V3 gear box. I don't have as much experience with those, but I'm sure we can get it rolling. Once we figure out the issues, you can then decide if you want to replace with stock parts, or start the upgrading of the rifle.

Wow you aren't kidding. That is a lot of changes...
Looks like that has a modified stock, pistol grip, rails, upper receiver, and I'm not sure but it looks like the picture is outfitted with an M4 style barrel and delta ring... I'm not sure how/if we could attach that... Most of the other stuff looks do-able.

Actually, I did find most of the exterior parts I would need already; Action M4 / M16 RAS Adapter for AK Series Airsoft AEG (Allow AK to use M4 RAS / RIS), hopefully that will allow me to attach this M4 style outer barrel too, CQB Master CNC T6063 10" EOD Sniper Outer Barrel Set for M4/M16 Airsoft AEG Rifles, add this on the butt end, King Arms Tactical Folding Stock For AK to Use M4 Retractable Stock - Black. That about does it, all those parts are on Evike.

If you can get the parts together I'd certainly help you out with getting the gun operational, and getting your upgrades installed. Just hit me up when you're ready.
Re: I am thinking of doing a ground up build.
Once I have it, I certainly will, I really appreciate the help! I would also like to see you do the rebuild on Jon's AK, I'll have a better idea of what I'm getting myself into if you'll let me watch. Thanks a bunch!

That is a great looking rifle. Do you have even a rough timeline yet?

Actually, yes I did know that. It's one of the many reasons I had for not messing with them if I couldn't replace the parts from them. Right now I don't have a disposable income, I can perpetuate my springer habit only because of the rate at which I use ammo and the fact that all my guns get regular use and care. One day I'll get there, and when I do, I want it to run with out fault, and be a serious asset to myself and whichever side I play with at any game. Till then, my springers will see me through.

I must admit, I am really looking forward to seeing you in action with your springers. Can't wait to play with you on Sunday!
