Who has the info on the Scar Airsoft Gun?

I have a friend asking about the Scar. What brand to buy? What version Gear box does it have? What are its advantages? What are it's drawbacks? I don't know enough to say much... Anyone have some info that could help point him in the right direction? Or maybe some avoiding pitfall (mistakes) info?

I would say the VFC.

Folding stock
Side charging handle for easier access to hop-up wheel.
Otherwise it is basically an M4, same box, same barrel lengths available.

What are it's drawbacks?
Many have electrical demons. I don't know why.
Also, the folding stock has a weak latching point that can break causing you to need to replace the stock. I have seen this happen to two guns in the last 2 years.
Slightly heavier compared to Metal M4's.
A bit more of a pain in the ass to take apart as compared to the M4 platform.

Also, it's not a standard V2 box. Many require a different air nozzle, as well as the guide ring for the M4 mag release needs to be trimmed off. The nozzle on a SCAR is much longer than a standard V2.

VFC makes a great SCAR, but once it goes bad, they're almost impossible to get running normally again. If he's looking for that kind of platform, I would suggest a KWA G36. It will have a V3 box, and KWA reliability. They share many of the same features, but will only look different.

Personally, as an ex-SCAR owner, I would advise him against one.
