"The Alamo."  Empty "The Alamo."

Post by Tango May 6th 2011, 18:15

I was thinking back to a game type I played once at a paintball field, the scenario was a lot of fun and was a lot like this;

Attack and Defend.
Defending team, must stay inside the fort area, and once they are KIA (can use medic rules or not) they switch to the attacking side. Once you switch, you can decide for yourself if you want to share any intel with the attacking team or not.

Attacking side has unlimited respawns but they are timed so the respawns happen in waves.

This is best played with a time limit, so that a clear winner can be determined and that either side can win. This also has the effect of making attacking players much more aggressive. For added dynamics, the attacking players can be required to complete other tasks than just eliminating the defenders, like setting up artillery, or comms posts. These would need to be set up close enough for the defenders to be able to stop the process by hitting the players tasked with the set up. Also, if the defending team has medics, once a medic is KIA any other defender can pick up that job from the dead medic, this adds more sustainability to the defending side.

What do you think? Feedback Welcomed (as long as its constructive.)

The Windtaker field is perfect for this type of scenario.

I'm looking forward to playing at or seeing the other fields, but two towers wouldn't be to bad either, what with that huge rock formation and breaks in the tree cover.

Yes, I am also anxious to get us to some new locations.

May 29th will put us in the Painted Forest.

I'm considering us doing another event on June 12th that would piggy-back a MESE event, and holding that in the Gordon Gulch area. But we will need to discuss some details first.

Sounds good to me, I need an intense weekend like that. Hell, I might even load for a three day and crash in my truck somewhere in between, just for that extra bit of awesome! LOL. Twisted Evil

Sure would! Heck, that would be a prime opportunity to go over some tactics, and stuff.

I'm looking forward to meeting you too, and the rest of the guys I haven't met yet. We seem to have a good group of solid guys going here. 8)

Alamo is a great style of gameplay. I have been apart of that type of gameplay numerous times and can honsetly say that it never gets old. Learning from your mistakes and then using what you learned seconds later is just a fun experience!

Not a bad idea some time soon. I remember playing where the attacking team had to set free supporting troops from a landing craft within view of the base. The time idea is a must and maybe restrict if not eliminate the old explosive pineapples.

I have played this scenario in Paintball and Airsoft and it is a hoot, but you have to have a time limit. We defended for 90 minutes and they finally called it because they couldn't kill all the defenders...
