Gorilla Glue...

Post by Tango on May 11th 2011, 15:14

Does anybody have experience with using gorilla glue? I will be using it to make a component for a project and is curious if anybody knows how much it can take before it breaks or loses bond?
Thanks,

Depends on the type. I have used the type designed for wood and it works great, not sure on the force rating for it. The epoxy is stronger,, but a lot more expensive.

I got the white formula that dries quicker, general purpose stuff, I figure if I worry to much about it, I can alway reinforce the part with some bailing wire, or fibers of some kind, and then hit it with another helping of adhesive. We'll see how it goes, time to get persnickety with my files on the part I actually have to change, the closer the joint, the more weight I can apply, the tighter the bond will be. I have a good feeling this will turn out fantastic! Very Happy

Progress report.

Post by Tango on May 11th 2011, 20:06

Well, here I sit, with my 4-in-hand hobby rasp, shoulder is finally starting to hate me, and I'm starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel here. The piece I'm working on is to add a 5th end to a Cross joint. If this all goes the way I'm trying to have it go, then the dish objective will be finished by Friday. If not then I'll certainly have it done by the Game demo on the 29th. Send me some good vibes all!

Another progress report.

Post by Tango on May 12th 2011, 16:37

Ok, so I finally have the pieces done to my standards, and have just set them up clamped to bond. What I used for a clamp was my two 15# barbells, and a length of 2" webbing, now we just get wait on that, and while we are waiting on that, I'm going to paint the dish! WEEEEEEE into my garage! Very Happy
