New Tac Vest..... anyone use it before?

Post by Der Affe (Dice) on September 7th 2011, 08:33

Been looking at getting a MOLLE vest instead of my Battlebelt and found one but wanted to see if anyone has used it before or knows anything on it. Looks good, MOLLE on front and back, built in hydration carrier and belt with two pistol mags. Only concern is that the front is all mesh with MOLLE on it so I don't know if it will hold all my stuff without loosening or flopping around without that extra supprt. Any insight would be appreciated.

Here is an example:

From what I've heard from other players, NC-Star gear is 'meh' at best. Condor Tactical makes much higher quality gear for reasonable prices. Here's there version of the same vest you're looking at http://www.400fps.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=6_20&products_id=33. As for the vest flopping around, if you fit it right to your body, there shouldnt be a problem of gear being loose

If you want to take a look at the quality for yourself, then head to the military surplus store on Pecos and 72nd. They have those vests in stock. Nothing beats taking a look at it in person.

NCStar vests are definitely on the lower end of the quality ladder. Often thin material which will wear out and tear quickly, along with uneven MOLLE stitching.

The Condors are a good middle of the road brand, they typically use the stronger Cordura fabric, but often still have uneven MOLLE stitching.

Pantac and FLYYE are two of the better brands. They almost always have even stitching and use Cordura fabric.

As with most things, you get what you pay for. If you buy a cheapo vest like the NCStar, don't expect it to last you very long at all. Personally the last thing I want is gear or a pouch ripping free from the vest during a game.

I picked up a Pantac Force Recon Vest if you are interested in looking at it.

Guess I can delete this Posting lol. Ordered the Hydration Vest that Tango has and Dutch used to have. Looks like it will work perfect for me! Thank you very much for the thought though!
