Gas M14 Questions

Post by nvegt on July 11th 2011, 09:09

I had bought a WE M14 gas blowback airsoft rifle. It was working fine, then all of a sudden when I load it with a full (with both gas and bb's) magazine and pull back the bolt, it just sprays all of the gas neither shooting the round nor blowing back the bolt. Do you have any ideas as of why that is happening or how i can fix it? If someone knows how to fix it i will be willing o pay them as well.

First off, I only have 1 gas rifle and 1 gas pistol, so my knowledge of gas operated guns is limited, but I'll throw a few things out.

There's a couple things that come to mind when I read your post.

Have you been using propane? If so are you using silicone oil with the propane to keep it lubricated?

There is a small "button" looking device on the magazine. This is what opens the gas chamber to allow gas into the gun to propel the BB. If this is dirty, or not lubricated it may get stuck in the depressed position allowing the gas to escape.

Inside the gun you may also have a part that is stuck in a position pushing down on the gas release. Again this could be dirty or not lubricated.

A faulty magazine?

If lubricating the internals doesnt do the trick, take apart the trigger mechanism and make sure nothing is broken. A latch broke on the valve knocker to one of my GBB pistols and it had the same effect

That's what she said! lol!

But, seriously, all in all good advice, clean, lubricate, check trigger mechanism, I would also suggest checking any and all o rings. I get the feeling that gas guns are similar to real steel in the take the time to do proper maintenance. Take care of your guns, they will take care of you.

Ok thanks. It isn't a faulty magazine as it does it with both of my magazines. Also, I have been using only green gas, so it has the silicone oil in it. Also, I should have been more clear, it only sprays when I pull the trigger. I have field stripped and tried to clean it. I haven't taken it apart to find the o-rings though yet. I'm a little bit wary of opening it up. I don't have the manual for the gun, so I would essentially be going in blind. i will check the valve knocker too. Thanks!

I am stumped with what is wrong with it. If anyone wants to try and take a look at it, I'd be wiling to pay $100 to whoever can fix it.
