Whats your FPS

Post by SplitInfinity on June 18th 2011, 17:24

I am curious to know what FPS people are shooting at.
My CYMA Ak105 was chronoed by airsoftGI.com at 387 FPS with .2g BB, but I havent chronoed it myself.

What FPS are people shooting?
Also, how can you increase effective/accurate distance of shots?

Thanks

Im upgrading my MP5 to shoot about 340 with .25s, and my L85 shoots about 370 w/ .25s. My WE M1911A1 pistol shoots about 300 with .25s.

The best way to increase accuracy is to get a tightbore barrel and a high-quality hop up bucking and nub. It is important to make sure all the components of the barrel/hopup are aligned properly, or else your shots will not be straight and tend to curve. Making sure your cylinder has good compression also ensures your shots will be consistent.

Magpul ACR: 370fps with .20 / 340fps with .25
ARMY Glock: 315fps with .20 / 290fps with .25

Generally you will lose about 8% in fps when switching from .20 to .25

With the CYMA you can expect to shoot mid 350's if you load up with .25's.

Our crew has a chrono that you can check your gun with.

I was also wondering if a 9.6v battery would be hard on the internals of my CYMA AEG, I have read some stuff saying that it could break the motor.
It came with an 8.4v but I want a better ROF.

A 9.6v should be safe in any CYMA. 9.6 is pretty standard for an AEG battery.

If you are looking to get cheap LiPo's, check out HobbyPartz.com

A 7.4 LiPo is equivalent power rate of fire to a 9.6 NiMH, but will last much longer and can give a higher AMP output when needed. The gun will only draw as much amperage as it needs. I have a few if you want to check one out before making a purchase.

You may want to stay away from the 11.1 LiPo as some motors are not tuned for that much voltage. I can say the G&P M120 motor will handle an 11.1 as I run that motor in two of my AEG's without problem. But you will also need a highspeed gear set (16:1 or 13:1). Motor usually runs about $40, gear set about $40 as well.

For anyone else interested, the chorno will tell you:
Joules (based upon weight of your BB / speed)
Speed in Feet per Second, or Meters per Second
Rate of Fire in Rounds per Minute or Rounds per Second.

Chrono will be on site for Operation Throwdown and is usually on site for other events as well.
