! Tactical Winter Gloves! Empty ! Tactical Winter Gloves!

I'm in the market for some good warm gloves that won't get held up in my gear/gun, and won't effect dexterity. Looks are important too! (passive/OD/coyote/etc.) Any suggestions?

Well, I don't know that there is anything that fits everything you are looking for....

Here's some advice I can offer.

The biggest part of staying warm, is staying dry. There is a type of silicon water sealant spray which you can apply to gloves and boots to help make them water resistant. They sell it at Walmart for around $6 a can. It is in the camping/outdoorsy section and has a neon orange cap (looks like a spraypaint can.) This stuff is worth its weight in gold.

Personally I use my Oakley SI Assault gloves nearly year round, but I also own a pair of neoprene gloves used for ice fishing. They are not tactical looking, and do restrict dexterity, but are good for when its really darn cold. I apply two coats of the silicone sealant to my gloves and they are good for the whole winter. I apply two layers of sealant to my boots every 3 months, and they are effectively waterproofed.

Another way to keep your hands dry is to rub baby powder on them. Baby powder is an excellent moisture absorber and will keep you dry from the inside for when your hands sweat.

Using HotHands, or equivalent hand warmers and keeping them in a pocket for use during down time can be helpful.

If you're going to be in a cold and wet environment, something that can help give even more moisture protection is wearing vinyl (food service type) gloves over the top of your tactical gloves. I learned this from another officer. It's not the most stylish, but its functional.

As for keeping your feet and body dry and warm, in addition to baby powder, it's important to layer. Warmth comes from staying dry and heating an air pocket between you and your clothing. The best thing to do is get a tight moisture wicking layer (polypropylene is a great material.) For shirts, the skin tight Starter or Under Armour shirts are fantastic. They make the same type of things for pants. Then over that wear an insulating layer (some type of thermal or fleece) and then your camo.

For socks, again polypropylene is good, but you can use a thin nylon type dress sock. Over that, wear a wool sock. Merino wool is best, and the higher percentage of wool the better. Both SmartWool and Rocky make excellent socks for warmth. They also make insulated boots, but you should still use this layering method. I'm sure others will attest to using this foot layering even in the summer as it keeps their feet dry and blister free, I know it's what I do.

That's my two cents. Others may support this or have additional ideas to consider.

I do use the silicon spray on my boots, which works very well, but had no thought to use it on my gloves before, so I'll have to give that a try.
Is there any local place to pick up of those "Oakley SI Assault gloves?" Would you recommend them? (Thanks for the suggestions!)

I have brought mine through a military/government source. But, you can find many retailers online just Google Oakley Assault Gloves, another version is the Oakley Pilot Gloves.

Typically these cost in the ballpark of $70-$80.

There are Chinese knock offs out there as well, and they aren't bad, but there are some differences. Quality is definitely better in the real deal. As with most equipment, you get what you pay for.

You can check eBay as well, usually both the real deal and knock offs are available. If it ships from China it's likely a knock off.
